In the late 50’s at the Ulm University for Styling, a group of students created modern radio sets in cooperation with the electric equipment manufacturer BRAUN. One could assign conceptions like practical, perhaps even rational as well as bright and even light to their formal concept. One of the most important professors at the university, the product designer and architect Dieter Rams proved his extraordinary abilities by creating the BRAUN loudspeaker LE 1.
Only approximately 500 pairs of the LE 1 were built and ridiculous prices were, until recently paid for the few well preserved LE 1’s that actually made it to the market.
Now, Dieter RAM himself has granted permission for QUAD to produce the LE 1 again under his license.
